Transitioning from a diet that includes snacking or adjusting to occasional hunger pangs can be tough. That's where these carnivore snack boosts come in handy, keeping you on track and preventing impulsive eating moments.
These bacon butter melts boast a delightful nutty, almost caramel-like flavor. You can easily substitute melted ghee in this recipe as well. Simply scoop out the golden-brown butter solids as they form, remove from heat, and let the butter cool.

Ingredients

  • 2 8 oz butter skip the salt if using salted butter
  • 1/2 lb bacon
  • salt optional

Instructions

  • Line the oven tray with parchment paper.
  • In a large skillet, fry bacon over medium-high heat. Cover with the lid to prevent splattering. Fry bacon strips on both sides, checking often to prevent overcooking. Drain bacon fat and let bacon strips cool on a paper towel.
  • Melt butter in a sauce pan or skillet over medium-high heat. When butter starts to foam, lower the temperature to medium-low. Milk solids will separate from the liquid butter, so you need to scrape the bottom and sides of the saucepan to keep them from sticking to the bottom/sides and burning. Continue to cook the butter while scooping up the milk solids to check on their color frequently. (You can also scoop out butter solids completely to discard if desired.) Remove from the heat once the milk solids have turned golden brown. Allow it to cool for a few minutes.
  • Break the bacon into small pieces and spread them evenly on the oven tray.
  • Pour the melted butter over bacon bits.
  • Place the tray in the fridge or freezer until the butter has solidified. Break or cut into pieces. Store in an airtight container in the fridge, and eat cold.
